Richard Cumming BVetMed MRCVS

Richard became the proud new owner of Aeron Vets in May 2024. Growing up on a small farm in West Wales, which evolved into a pedigree herd of Simmental cows, Richard developed a deep connection to farming and animal care from an early age.

After graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in London, he returned to his roots to begin his career as a mixed vet. His passion for cattle has been the cornerstone of his veterinary journey, inspiring him to establish The Cattle Vet in 2020. Richard thrives on working closely with farmers, helping them achieve their goals and improve herd health.

When he’s not on farm or the clinic, Richard enjoys showing his prized cattle and staying active. Whether it’s playing football, running, or hiking he enjoys keeping busy!

Emily Bowles BVetMed PgCert SAM MRCVS

Emily is Richards partner and works full-time as a dedicated small animal vet. After graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in London, Emily made West Wales her home and has worked locally ever since.

With a particular passion for managing complex medical cases, Emily has pursued further study, earning a postgraduate certificate in small animal medicine.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys keeping busy, exploring new places and spending time with her own pets. You will usually find her running or walking her dog Waldo somewhere along the Welsh coastline.

Reception Team

Carys Jenkins- Practice Manager

Carys has been working at Aeron Vets for nearly 28 years and knows the team and clients back to front! Carys enjoys working front of house meeting and greeting all the clients and their animals. When she’s not at work Carys enjoys running, making crafts or will be busy jetting off somewhere exotic!

Mary Williams

Mary joined the Aeron Vets reception team 6 years ago. Mary enjoys working alongside the rest of the team and chatting with all the clients that call or come into the practice. Mary has a lovely labrador called Ozzie and enjoys taking him on long walks as well as going on long weekend breaks away.

Marian Jones

Marian has been working at Aeron since 2021 helping out on reception and as part of our animal care team.

Marian enjoys greeting and socialising with all the pets as well as chatting with their owners!

Marian loves all animals and when she’s not here lives and works on a beef farm as well as looking after 7 dogs of her own!

Lucy Pope

Lucy joined the Aeron Vets reception team in the Summer of 2024. Lucy’s favourite part of the job is interacting with clients and getting to know them and their pets!
Lucy is a great cat lover and has 3 of her own- Tilly, Tegan and Tirion, as well as her own horse Mo! But when she gets some spare time Lucy also enjoys art and cold water swimming.

Vet Team

Mark O’ Donovan MVB MRCVS

Mark graduated from the University of Dublin in 2000 and joined Aeron Vets in 2004, recently celebrating 20 years at Aeron. Mark loves working as a mixed vet and enjoys the challenge of working with all different species and he has 3 cats of his own. Mark enjoys exploring the countryside of Wales with his wife visiting historical sites.

Frances Jones BVetMed MRCVS

Frances has been a member of the Aeron Vets team since 2007!

Frances enjoys all aspects of mixed practice and relishes the challenge of whatever creature is put in front of her next, be that cow, dogs, sheep, horse or one of her two children!

Always keen to move with the times, Frances has spent time concentrating on herd health planning, Johnes management and in recent years completed the Arwain DGC antibiotic champion training. Optimising client and animal welfare are her top concerns.

Eifion Williams BVMS MRCVS

Eifion has worked at Aeron Vets for a grand total of 38 years! He graduated from Glasgow in 1982. There isn’t a farm he hasn’t been to and he is familiar with the corners of many a field; foaling mares, calving cows and lambing sheep.
Aeron Vets have been lucky to have the benefit of his experience for the best part of 4 decades and we are pleased that Eifion continues to work with us part time.
Eifion enjoys walking his dogs in the local area, reading, watching rugby and spending time with his family.

Becci Darby BVMS MRCVS

Becci is one of our mixed animal vets. Becci graduated from Glasgow vet school in 2010 and joined Aeron Vets in 2014. Becci enjoys all aspects of being a vet and is happy seeing a range of species. She enjoys the challenges of emergency vetting. Her dairy farmer husband and young children keep her extremely busy outside of work, but if she does get the odd bit of time to herself you will find her running with her dog, swimming in the sea or riding her Section D mare around the countryside!

Niamh Wray BVMSci MRCVS

Niamh joined the vet team in October 2024 after graduating from the University of Surrey.

Niamh likes treating all species and is enjoying the variety of work that being a mixed vet brings!

Outside of work Niamh is enjoying getting to know the local area as well as keeping active hiking and running.

Jon Chantrey BVetMed MRCVS

Jon graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in London and moved to west Wales shortly after where he has been working ever since.

Jon joined the Aeron Vets team in Autumn 2024 after having worked as part of The Cattle Vet team, our partner practice, for the last few years.

Jon is a petrol head if he isn’t watching grand prix, he is tinkering on his motorbike. He also loves keeping active and exploring the local area.

Simon Archer BVMS CertCHP MSc PhD DipECVPH MRCVS.

Simon is one of our large animal vets, bringing years of experience in large animal practice alongside a background in lecturing and data analysis. He enjoys combining these skills to help improve cattle health and farm outcomes. Having recently moved to the area, Simon is currently learning Welsh and enjoying getting to know his new surroundings.

Veterinary Nurses

Lauren Burrows RVN

Lauren joined the team in August 2024 as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

Lauren has been qualified for 4 years and has also undertaken further study by completing a certificate in medical nursing.

Lauren’s favourite part of her job is looking after all the inpatients in the practice but she also enjoys meeting pets during nurse clinics such as senior health and weight management consults.

Lauren has 2 pets of her own, a cheeky Jack Russell called Minnie and a cat Pwsas. When she’s not working Lauren enjoys travelling the world as well as exploring the Welsh Coastal path.

Siân Hale RVN

Siân qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2019 and joined Aeron Vets in December 2024.

Siân has a keen interest in this emergency cases and has gone on to complete a certificate in emergency and critical care.

When she’s not at work you will find her gardening with her two cats- Katty and Winnie.

Annie Richards

Annie joined the team in February as a Veterinary Care Assistant! Annie has studied animal management in college for 3 years and is hoping to train as a veterinary nurse in the future. Annie’s favourite part of the job is looking after inpatients and lab-work such as running bloods. Annie has 3 dogs, a chocolate labrador, a springer spaniel and a dapple dachshund. When Annie’s not working she’s enjoys going on holiday or spending time at the beach.

Lizzie Ward RVN

Lizzie is one of our fantastic nurses, bringing years of experience in both equine and small animal care, along with a genuine passion for animal welfare. She’s a devoted dog mum to her two “squiddly diddly” pups, Elsie and Edie, who are very much doted on at home. Outside of work, Lizzie is busy planning her second volunteering trip with the animal charity We Care in Sri Lanka- something she’s incredibly passionate about. And when she’s not caring for animals, you’ll often find her in the kitchen, kindly baking up delicious treats for the team!
